Cookie Notice
Last updated: [date]
This notice explains the cookies and similar browser storage Hydrometric uses. Hydrometric is operated by Aegaea Ltd. For how we handle personal data generally, see our Privacy Policy.
In short
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use cookie-based analytics. Because everything we set is strictly necessary for the service or remembers a choice you made, we do not show a cookie consent banner.
Cookies we set
- hydrometric_auth (essential). Keeps you signed in after you verify your email. It holds a signed session token, lasts 30 days, is removed when you sign out, and cannot be read by page scripts (HttpOnly). It is shared across hydrometric.io and its subdomains.
- hydrometric_preview_auth (essential). The same sign-in cookie, used only on our preview and test sites so they do not interfere with your main session.
Other browser storage
We also store a few small items in your browser's local storage or session storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us:
- hydrometric:recent-analyses remembers your recently opened analyses so you can return to them quickly.
- hydrometric:sidebar-collapsed remembers whether you collapsed the side menu.
- hydrometric:pending-analysis briefly holds the name of an analysis you started from the map while it opens; it is cleared once used.
Performance measurement
We use Vercel Speed Insights to measure how quickly our pages load. It does not set cookies. It collects page performance metrics, the page route and general device and browser information, which we use only to improve the site.
Third parties
Some features load content from, or send you to, other services, which may set their own cookies under their own policies:
- Stripe. When you pay, you are taken to Stripe's checkout page, which uses cookies for payment processing and fraud prevention.
- Map tiles. Our maps load tiles directly from OpenStreetMap, Esri and the Environment Agency, which receive your IP address as part of the request.
- Google. If you choose to export a report to Google Docs, you sign in to Google on Google's own pages.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the hydrometric_auth cookie you will not be able to sign in. Clearing your browser's site data removes the local storage items above.
Changes and contact
We will update this notice if we change the cookies we use. Questions: community@hydrometric.io.
